Wakro: In preparation for the upcoming Parshuram Kund Mela in January 2025, coinciding with Makar Sankranti, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein conducted an on-site inspection of the Riverfront Development project at Parshuram Kund. The project aims to enhance the experience of the thousands of pilgrims expected to visit. Key improvements underway include constructing a Guest House and Pilgrims Lodge, alongside upgrades to existing facilities.
Following the inspection, Mein met with the District Administration and Parshuram Kund Development Trust to review logistical preparations, emphasizing the need for accommodation for at least 2,000 pilgrims each night. Highlighting the government’s goal to position Parshuram Kund as Northeast India’s premier pilgrimage destination, Mein announced an additional ₹50 crore in funding to strengthen infrastructure, adding to the ₹50 crore previously allocated by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
Mein stated, “Our commitment is to ensure comfort and safety for all visitors, preserving Parshuram Kund’s spiritual significance while making it accessible to thousands of pilgrims.” Joining the visit were Tezu HMLA and Advisor Dr. Mohesh Chai, ADC Wakro, Heads of Departments, and other key stakeholders.
This development reflects the State Government’s dedication to fostering cultural tourism in Northeast India.
