In a significant move to propel Arunachal Pradesh towards development, Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) visited Kamle District, emphasizing the state’s pivotal role in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). Addressing a public meeting in Raga, the district headquarters, the Governor underlined four foundational pillars for progress: education, health, infrastructure, and tourism.
Key Highlights of the Visit
1. Education as a Priority
The Governor urged village elders to ensure that every child completes schooling, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020. He stressed that a skilled youth population would drive local opportunities in sectors like hydropower and infrastructure development. Concern over drug abuse among the youth was also raised, with a call to action for communities to combat this issue.
2. Strengthening the Health Sector
Cleanliness and hygiene took center stage in the Governor’s address. He proposed forming women-led hygiene and sanitation committees to promote awareness, incentivized through skill development programs.
3. Focus on Infrastructure
Acknowledging the district’s challenges in road connectivity, the Governor assured residents of active engagement with relevant authorities to improve infrastructure. His commitment was met with widespread applause.
4. Boosting Tourism
Describing tourism as a game changer, the Governor encouraged the youth to explore opportunities as tour operators, guides, and homestay entrepreneurs. He highlighted the sector’s potential to uplift the local economy.
Engagement with Local Leaders
The Governor interacted with community leaders, urging them to preserve their rich cultural heritage while embracing scientific advancements. The local MLA, Er. Rotom Tebin, echoed these sentiments, addressing the gathering alongside senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner JT Obi and Superintendent of Police Kardak Riba.
Assessment of Government Schemes
During the visit, the Governor reviewed the district’s progress on various Central and State Government schemes. He urged officials to adopt technology and automation for monitoring and execution, emphasizing community engagement and on-site project inspections.
This maiden visit to Kamle District underscores the Governor’s commitment to fostering holistic development and driving Arunachal Pradesh closer to the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat.’
